In exciting news it looks like we are finally able to host a bunch of kids from Woorabinda indigenous community to be a part of our Kids Community Connect (KCC) program in a few weeks! After years of trying everything seems to be falling into place this year – praise God. There will be 21 kids and 4 adults coming down to be a part of the action from July 3-10. This is an exciting chance to continue the partnership we have built over many years with the Woorabinda community and especially One Mob church, made even more relevant as they will be here during NAIDOC week. Everyone from Woorabinda will be sleeping at our church facility in the upstairs rooms and then joining in the kids program each morning of KCC.
In order to host them there are a number of things that we need to call on our church community to help with. Please check out the list below:
- MEALS. We will need to provide lunch and dinner most days, as well as breakfast on the weekend. Check out this link for more details, and to volunteer to provide a meal. mealtrain.com/4ml54m
- BEDDING. We will need to provide bedding for everyone. This means camp beds, sleeping bags, pillows. We will also need 1 full size single bed for Aunty Carol as she will struggle to sleep on the floor. Let Chris Pine know if you can provide any of this on chrispine@livingchurch.org.au
- FINANCES. It is costing around $3100 to hire a bus and transport everyone to and from Woorabinda. A good proportion of the KCC registrations are already covered, but we still need about $700 to cover costs. If you can help out with part of these costs you can donate through https://livingchurch.org.au/give/. Make sure to mark your donation “Woorabinda”.
- PRAYER. Please keep praying for the safe arrival of our brothers and sisters from Woorabinda. Pray for an encouraging week of partnership in the gospel together. Pray for this to be a chance to live out gospel-shaped desires for reconciliation and partnership with our indigenous brothers and sisters. And pray that this will be a great time of growth spiritually for all involved as we come together, one in Christ Jesus.
