Update from PCQ Moderator Elect – a time to reflect and be thankful

Greetings in the Lord. May God bless you and your family this holiday season with all your preparations in the lead-up to Christmas.

Despite the issues of the past couple of years, it’s an exciting time for the Church. The PCQ Committee on Ministry Resourcing reports that there have been excellent new gospel ministry initiatives established this year and many Ministry Workers appointed for 2023. You can hear more in this video report from Rev Mitch Smart:

As Moderator-Elect, I write to you this week with specific news from the Supreme Court of Queensland.
The Orders sought by the Receivers in the Spring Hill application were made on Friday, 16 December 2022. The settlement of the sale of the property to the purchaser, A Future QTC Limited, is scheduled for 31 January 2023. The Orders also authorised PCQ/QTC to enter into commercial lease agreements with A Future QTC Limited, which allows PCQ and QTC’s current occupation arrangements of the Spring Hill property to continue on substantially the same basis.

We are deeply thankful to God for this outcome and ask that you continue to pray for QTC staff and our Church Offices as the transition of the building to the new owners takes place.

QTC plan to hold a thanksgiving service on Monday 6 February at the 369 Boundary St premises (which will also be QTC’s commencement service for the new year). There will be more details to follow in the new year.

On a separate note, this will be my last letter to you as Moderator-Elect as I am stepping down from the role at the end of January 2023. It has been my pleasure to serve the PCQ in this capacity, and I believe that God has a bright future ahead for the Church.

Again, may you and your family have a blessed Christmas and New Year as you celebrate the birth of our Saviour, remembering the great promises that our God has made to us.

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

Matthew 1:21

Yours sincerely in Christ,
(Rev) Andrew Purcell
