In July Deb will be leaving to rejoin the mission with Mercy Ships.

On Sunday 27th, at both services, we will be spending some time in the service praying for her, and sending her with our blessings.

Deb’s story

While I have been a follower of Jesus all of my adult life, I really could not measure how I was serving and “remembering the poor” Gal 2:10 as the fruit of my faith and using my privilege as a rich educated, Australian.

I began to wonder what it would be like to radically follow the 2000 year old model of Jesus, leave my safe job and community and walk towards and live amongst the poor and use my life to make a difference to others.

In 2019, I got brave and courageous, and this took me to the other side of the world to Senegal, Africa to volunteer and serve as the Head Receptionist on board a hospital ship with Mercy Ships.

2020 and COVID-19 brought me home but I’m excited to join the new custom built ship Global Mercy in July 2021 to help fit-out the hospital ready for surgery to commence in 2022.
