As followers of Jesus, what should our heart be towards Muslims? Ryan & Mel Dehnert, ministry partners with our church, have organised to visit a local mosque to explore just that. If you are interested here are details from Ryan & Mel:
We have a conviction that the love of Christ compels us to love our Muslim friends and neighbours. And a way to love them is to listen to them – to learn from them what they believe, hear what drives their devotion to Islam, to challenge the assumptions we hold, to break down the barrier of “otherness” that often divides us.
We prayerfully hope that by having an authentic appreciation of what Muslims believe and value, we might grow in wisdom in how to build bridges for sharing the good news of Jesus with them.
To this end, you are invited to a half day workshop and mosque visit. Before attending 1pm prayers at a local mosque, we’ll have a training session run by Tim Fawssett (Cross Cultural Coordinator, SU Australia), and there will be a time of debriefing/reflection after the visit. There will be a time of discussion with a local Muslim leader at the mosque after prayers.
